You can rest easy when it comes to choosing a manufacturer who is committed to looking after the environment
Everything about an Advent leisure lodge is about creating the ideal environment for your valuable leisure time. However, as a member of the Association for Environment Conscious Building, we go further to ensure that the environment you live in does not adversely impact upon the environment around you.
For a start, you can draw comfort from the fact that we are part of the Shepherd Group. This means you can rest easy knowing that your park home has been manufactured according to all the procedures, practices and operating guidelines of their strict environmental policies.
Furthermore, you can be proud that every aspect of your Advent leisure lodge not only meets these stringent environmental standards but also the eco-needs of the park you live in. From the recyclable steel of the chassis to the ‘forest-safe’ wood used in the construction, your Advent leisure lodge is kind to the environment, so you can relax and enjoy it.
Discover for yourself some of the environmental credentials of your Advent leisure lodge:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The steel chassis
The solid, durable, all-steel chassis of your Advent leisure lodge is made from recycled steel to preserve resources and lessen the impact of mining on the environment. Waste materials such as steel cans, appliances, automobiles and construction refuse are all fed back into the steel-making process before being cast into further useful steel objects. What’s more, our recycled steel can itself, be recycled again at the end of its long life.
The floor structure
All flooring in an Advent leisure lodge is insulated with fibreglass rolls that are free of harmful ozone-depleting CFCs and HCFCs (chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons) in its manufacture or content and represent no known threat to the environment.
Furthermore, the floors in an Advent leisure lodge are made from tempered hardboard and chipboard that is sourced from FSC-approved (Forestry Stewardship Council) sustainable forests. This means that the wood used is from forests that are managed to “conserve biological diversity and its associated values, water resources, soils, and unique and fragile ecosystems and landscapes, and, by so doing, maintain the ecological functions and the integrity of the forest”. We are proud to be able to comply with this important FSC principle.
The walls
Our walls are made of FSC-sourced (Forestry Stewardship Council) wood that is finished with non-toxic water-based stain. The exterior Canexel cladding is formed from environmentally-friendly recycled wood waste that does not need repainting for 25 years. When it does need touching up, it can be done with water-based paint.
Furthermore, the glass-fibre wall insulation is made from Envirofoam insulation. This is a lightweight, eco-friendly solid glass-fibre insulation material that is made of 80% recycled glass with very low volatile compounds (VOC) levels.
The roof
As with all the timber used in the construction of an Advent leisure lodge, all wooden roof structures are made from FSC-sourced (Forestry Stewardship Council) wood.
The long-life roof tiles contain 25% recycled materials and come with a 40 year guarantee.
What’s more, our fibreglass rolls are free of harmful ozone-depleting CFCs and HCFCs (chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons) in its manufacture or content and represent no known threat to the environment.
The boilers
All Advent leisure lodges are fitted with ‘A’ rated, fully-condensing, high efficiency boilers. A condensing boiler captures much more usable heat from its fuel than a non-condensing boiler. A highly-efficient heat exchanger makes sure that as much heat as possible is transferred from the boiler's burner - and as little as possible lost in gases through the flue. This means you will be saving the environment as well as saving money on heating bills.
Appliances
After central heating, refrigeration appliances are the biggest domestic users of energy, because they're on all the time. That’s why all our fridges and freezers are A-rated to give you energy and money-savings plus real peace of mind.
WC cisterns
All WC cisterns in an Advent leisure lodge are six litre capacity and fitted with both long and short flush to give flexible economy and water conservation options. When you specify the fittings of your Advent leisure lodge, you can also choose more efficient and energy-saving options such as ‘grey flush’ toilets that use recycled water from your shower and hand basins, or specially-fitted water-flow restrictors to minimise waste.
Renewable energy for heating
You can relax and enjoy the warmth of your Advent leisure lodge secure in the knowledge that it is heated using an innovative new heat pump. These Heatking heat pumps extract natural heat from the air and convert it into energy. They are an eco-friendly and cost-effective way of pre-heating domestic hot water, underfloor heating or your radiators.
Energy-saving park options
With an Advent leisure lodge you can also benefit from a range of further optional money and energy-saving features offered by some parks that will not only help save the environment but also the money in your pocket!
These features include:
Rainwater harvesting - a water-butt system that collects rainwater from your roof for 101 uses such as watering the garden, washing your windows and car or giving your dog a drink.
Grey water system - a plumbed-in systems that recycles water from your shower and hand basins for use by your toilet flush system.
Ground source heating - in the right location this eco-friendly system utilises renewable energy stored in the ground to provide one of the most energy-efficient ways of heating your Advent leisure lodge. The only energy used by ground source heating systems is electricity to power the pumps which nevertheless deliver three or four times more thermal energy (heat) than is used in electrical energy to drive the system.
