Shepherd Park & Leisure Homes completes unprecedented investment in its two brands: Advent Leisure Homes and Homeseeker Park Homes

To consolidate its industry-leading position in park homes and leisure lodges, Shepherd Park & Leisure Homes has invested over £ 9 million in a new state-of-the-art factory, two show villages and customer facilities at Rushden, Northamptonshire. The 6.5 acre site, only 20 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1, was formally opened on October 25th 2008.

In addition, the company has now successfully completed the transfer of park home production from Irthlingborough (the former headquarters of Homeseeker Homes Ltd) and the transfer of leisure lodge production from Shepherd Group's factory at York where they were manufactured for Advent Park & Leisure Homes. All ranges are now produced in Rushden using leading-edge manufacturing techniques. With a total of 27 fully dressed and furnished models on display across the two locations,** this investment marks a step change in the quality and comfort of park home and leisure lodge facilities that are offered to customers anywhere in the UK. The models are permanently sited in landscaped settings, just as they would be on a real park, with all the benefit of natural light.

Therefore, no longer is it necessary for parks and their customers to wait for national shows to offer them an opportunity to view lodges and park homes, with all the inconvenience of queues and crowds. They can visit the villages at Rushden or York any day, any time without an appointment and return as often as they like. Furthermore, there are comfortable meeting, seminar and relaxation areas with kitchen and bathroom facilities for park operators and their customers to use, completely free of charge. The ground-breaking Park Selector service will be available for use every day too. It is an interactive computer-based search tool enabling visitors to find a park anywhere in the UK that meets their individual criteria.

All the indications are that these amenities are exactly what customers want. The Rushden site was formally opened by Peter Bone (MP for Wellingborough and Rushden) on October 25th with a preview for parks on 24th and a further public day on 26th. Around 1000 people visited over the three days giving excellent feedback and showing huge interest. The first park home produced in Rushden has already been sold and sited and the first leisure lodge, due for completion at the end of the year, has been sold too (see full details below).

SP&LH has two distinct and respected brands: Homeseeker Park Homes and Advent Leisure Homes and it is owned by Shepherd Group, founded in 1890.
