Advent to open the UK's largest leisure lodge show village in York

• Formal opening by The Lord Mayor of York on Saturday April 12th at 11am at Huntington, near York. Journalists and photographers warmly invited

• Advent aims to raise £2,000 for York against Cancer

Advent Leisure Homes, part of Shepherd Group, invites the press and public to Huntington on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April to celebrate the opening of the largest show “village” in the UK dedicated to lodge living. The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Irene Waudby will formally open the “village” on Saturday 12th at 11 am. There will be 12 fully-furnished luxury lodges on display, all with two or three bedrooms. Advent expects up to 20 parks to take stands during the weekend giving visitors a unique opportunity to meet representatives from some of the UK’s best parks and to be the first to try out the Park Selector service. Located in the luxurious on-site Marketing Suite – a customer meeting and lounge facility - the Park Selector offers them internet access to over 800 parks throughout the UK so they can choose exactly where they wish to site their lodge. Lodges are then manufactured to order in Huntington and transported and sited at the chosen park.

This unique lifestyle “village” is superior to every other leisure lodge display or showground in the UK or Europe in the quality and quantity of its amenities and its ability to show customers all facets of lodge living. The lodge sector is growing year on year as many people use them to make the most of their lifestyle choices. Some buy them as holiday homes, others use them as their UK base if they spend part of the year abroad and yet others buy a lodge, sited on a residential park, in order to downsize as they approach retirement.

This splendid show “village” gives visitors the chance to consider all these options and more. It offers a window on a new world.

The lodges are built to full residential park home specification (British Standard BS:3632) and inside they feel just like a luxurious traditionally-built home. They are factory manufactured which brings many advantages: better quality and budget control because they are built indoors, without weather dependency, and they are completed much quicker than a bricks and mortar home would be.

Each lodge has the benefit of professional interior design and all are shown fully furnished. ALL appliances, home entertainment, flooring, furniture, soft furnishings and accessories as shown are included in the prices. For no extra cost, customers can make their selection of fabrics, carpets, tiles and flooring from Standard colour schemes or upgrade to Opus and Omni schemes for added luxury. Here in the lodges customers can design their own interior in comfort and in the exact real-life setting with the benefit of natural light. There is also a choice of external finishes/cladding. Advent’s homes, fully sited and set on individual plots are priced at between £95,000 to £300,000, depending on the location of the park and the amenities it offers.

The 12 show lodges are but one example from all of Advent’s ranges – each range includes models in different sizes with the three packages of features: Standard, Opus and Omni. Although it is confident almost all customers will find a lodge they like from the existing ranges, Advent does offer a complete step-by-step bespoke service so customers who visit the ““village”” can design their own with the help of Advent’s team or adapt an existing lodge to meet their specific requirements.

Other attractions

At the “village” there is also a central piazza for relaxation and refreshments during the weekend. York Against Cancer will be at the “village” throughout the weekend serving delicious hot food paid for by Advent. Visitors will be invited to donate at least the equivalent purchase price to the charity. Shepherd Group Brass Band will entertain visitors.

Meanwhile York Marina at Naburn will exhibit two pre-owned motor boats in excellent condition and Armstrong Massey Land Rover (York Ltd) dealership will display a selection of models. Specialist super car dealer Tom Hartley from Overseal in Derbyshire will bring a luxury model for the public to view.

The “village” is fully accessible and there is ample parking. Visitors enter the “village” from Jockey Lane in Huntington close to The Range and just a few hundred meters from Monks Cross retail park.

Although Advent’s standard ranges have luxurious and quality interiors, it recognises that some customers will want to enhance their lodges even further and that is why the Opus and Omni packages of optional features have been developed. The exact features in each lodge will vary depending on the size of model and space available in each, but these are typical guides.

The Standard package of features

All furniture, fixtures, interior and exterior lighting, curtains, bed dressings, carpets and flooring, bathroom and shower room suites, full fitted kitchen with oven, hob and hood, integrated fridge/freezer

The Opus package of optional extras

Many fixtures, appliances and furniture upgraded from standard lodge specification and the addition of roof windows with blinds, DVD and TV, leather upholstery, overbed storage and luxury bedding, heated towel rail, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave.

The Omni package of optional extras

The Omni contains everything in the Opus package with the addition of electrically operated roof windows, a music system, a range cooker, integrated coffee maker and wine chiller, trouser and shoe racks in the walk-in wardrobe.
